Favorites from Fall Retreat
We’re back from Fall Retreat. Oh, you didn’t know we were gone? “Saaaad.”
This was our third year taking the high school students to Castaway Club in Detroit Lakes, which is a four hour drive north (and you thought we lived on the Canadian border!) The camp, as Jason (our new Senior High Pastor) said, looks like it was created by Disney. I have a lot of favorite parts of the trip, but will narrow it to three.
1) Sitting in the hot tub at night with the senior girls. I’ve felt so out of the loop since Kaelem’s arrival and was glad to have some time with them without a baby around. Plus, I just love hot tubs and pools of any kind.
2) This one is a toss up: Watching Michael T. make faces at Kaelem to get him to smile. Or, watching a dozen girls and one boy perform the latest version of the electric slide in pirate and ninja costumes.
3) Cabin time with the girls Saturday night. I felt that we all experienced a fresh thankfulness for God’s gift of forgiveness. So much so that we spontaneously sang about it.
There were some low moments too (losing the staff flag football title to sophomores, for one), but even with those, I still felt that it was a special weekend.
I uploaded a few pictures from Facebook to our Picture Page.
