My Wife's Having a Baby! Pt. 1

Friday was Sarah’s last official day of work. That’s just what she planned on. Seemed like a good idea at the time. The baby was due on May 30th, and Monday would be Memorial Day. Why not go ahead and put in for the maternity leave.

So we made Friday a date night, as well. We played a little disc golf at Staring Lake and decided that afterwards we would go see Shrek the 3rd. Actually, Sarah’s wanted to see it for some time, and before the baby came seemed easiest. So after the park we went to the Eden Prairie mall. We got tickets and settled in. Afterward we planned to use a gift certificate to Jake’s, a grill in EP.

The movie was decent. Not great, but not terrible.

We decided after the movie that we were too tired for a full meal, so why not save the gift certificate for later? So we went home to get some sleep before our big Saturday of cleaning and fixing the car (changing the timing belt).

Then the water broke. And I was a little more nervous than I thought I would be. Things were definitely not in order yet. We still had so much to do.

But there I found myself, installing a car seat in the dark, at 11:30 at night, while Sarah finished packing.

I called Drew to ask if he could run and get a few things from my office at Grace, and he graciously (no pun intended) obliged. After that it was off to the hospital.

We checked in and answered a ton of questions. The doctor was called and it was decided that we would all get some sleep and see where things where in the morning.

At this point, I was starving, and it seemed like nothing would happen, so I ran out to the 24/7 McDonald’s (to eat immediately), and the Cub Foods (for stocking up).

Then I hightailed it back to the hospital where I sit now, writing the beginning of this saga. The nurse has said I should probably sleep, so that’s what I’m going to do. Because it’s the last of that stuff I’m going to get for a while.

We’ll post more as more becomes available.
